    The Canadian central bank has made a special request to Canadians to stop defacing $5 notes to make them look like Star Trek’s Doctor Spock.

    For years trekkies have scribbled on the face of former PM Wilfrid Laurier – Canada’s first francophone prime minister – to make them look like Spock.

    However the trend has accelerated significantly since Leonard Nimoy, the actor who played spock, passed away.

    This week ASB posted their latest haly-yearly profit statement, hauling in a record half-year net profit of $444 million.

    This is a 7% increase on the previous year’s profit ($416 million). ASB is owned by the Australian Commonwealth Bank, Australia’s largest bank, who reported a first-half profit of A$4.62 billion.

    Westpac NZ have just appointed a new boss, David McLean, who has just returned from working in New York at Westpac’s institutional  Americas division.

    McLean has been the acting CEO of Westpac NZ since last August after Australian Peter Clare departed last year due to health reasons.

  • Auckland Pride Parade

    The Auckland Pride Parade 2015 is a landmark annual public event, the highpoint of the Auckland Pride Festival and the largest Rainbow Community (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Takatapui, Fa’afafine, Intersex, Queer) event in the country.

    It will take place on Saturday 21 February at 7:30pm in Auckland’s Ponsonby Road, and this year will include more than 55 floats.

    What do single people call Valentine's Day? Happy Independence Day.
